- Cardi B and Offset revealed their son's name on Friday and shared the first photos of his face.
- The baby, their second child together, was born on September 4, 2021.
- The rappers announced the birth at the time but did not reveal the child's name.
Cardi B and Offset have finally revealed the name of their 7-month-old son: Wave Set Cephus.
Cardi revealed that the unique name was suggested by Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus. "When Set suggested Wave, I was sold! THAT HAD TO BE HIS NAME," she tweeted when sharing a clip of the child's jewel-encrusted chain.
The rappers welcomed Wave, their second child together, on September 4, 2021, but they did not reveal the name of the baby boy or post images of his full face to social media in the months since his birth. The couple appears on the cover of Essence magazine, released Friday, with their entire blended family, including Wave, their 3-year-old daughter Kulture, and Offset's children from previous relationships, Kalea and Kody, both 7, and Jordan, 12.
The parents shared why they chose to enjoy the newest addition to their family on their own for a while in the interview. "So many people will post mean, disgusting things, just to get a reaction from us," Cardi said. "We want to protect our feelings, because we get very, very angry and upset."
The couple are not the only celebrities to draw lines about their children. Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard shield their kids' faces with emojis on social media. Orlando Bloom, Ashley Graham, Chris Pratt, and others do as well. Halle Berry has posted her children without exposing their faces on several occasions, and Adele has been known to obscure her son's face in public.
Berry, Adele, Jennifer Garner, and other famous parents have worked to establish a bill protecting celebrity children from harassment by paparazzi.
